Executive Committee Responsibilities and Structure The Executive Committee (EC) of the International Engineering and Technology Institute (IETI) plays a pivotal role in governing the institute's operations and maintaining its high standards of excellence. The committee's key responsibilities include: Election of Fellows: The EC is tasked with electing Distinguished Fellows (DF) and Fellows (F) to the institute, a process that forms the backbone of IETI's commitment to recognizing outstanding contributions in the field of engineering and technology. Voting Requirements for New Fellows: To ensure the election of members is both democratic and reflective of the EC's high standards, a supermajority (two-thirds) of votes from the EC is required to elect new Distinguished Fellows and Fellows. Composition of the EC: As of March 2020, the composition of the EC has been standardized to include permanent members from the Board of Governors. This change underscores the institute's commitment to stable and effective governance. Conflict of Interest Policy: In situations where conflicts of interest may arise, the Chair of the EC has the authority to appoint (add) Fellows as temporary replacements for EC members. This ensures that the fellowship election process remains fair, transparent, and free from any bias. These guidelines are designed to facilitate the smooth operation of the IETI and uphold its reputation as a leading organization in the engineering and technology community.
