
H. E. Dr. Ameenah Gurib-Fakim, former President of Mauritius and Honorary President of the International Engineering and Technology Institute (IETI), recently visited the Abuja World Trade Centre to explore its ecosystem fostering sectors like fintech and agribusiness. Notably, four of five leading unicorns in relevant fields are Nigerian enterprises, highlighting the country’s innovation potential.

During the visit, Gurib-Fakim was presented with a trophy by the centre’s leadership. As Mauritius’ first and sixth President, her trip in the role underscores focus on African innovation and international collaboration. The Abuja World Trade Centre, a key regional platform, has prioritized cross-sector cooperation, with this engagement strengthening international exchanges.
