September 21 — The International Engineering and Technology Institute (IETI) is proud to announce the recipient of the 2026 (3rd) IETI George Perry Award for Health and Neurosciences: Prof. Elizabeth O. Johnson, Senior Advisor and Founding Dean of the School of Medicine at European University Cyprus. She is recognized for her exceptional contributions to the fields of neuroscience and health sciences.
According to the IETI Award Committee, the core nomination citation reads: “Her seminal contributions to functional neuroanatomy and neuroendocrinology, particularly her impactful research on the HPA axis, stress mechanisms, and neuroendocrine regulation, alongside her visionary academic leadership in transforming international medical education and training future generations of physicians and health scholars.”
The George Perry Award for Health and Neurosciences was established by IETI to honor globally renowned scientists who have made outstanding contributions to health sciences, neurobiology, and neurodegenerative disease research. The award is named in honor of Prof. George Perry, Co-founder and Founding Chair of IETI, one of the world's most highly cited neuroscientists, and Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Alzheimer's Disease (SCI). Prof. Perry holds multiple prestigious international honors and academy memberships, including Foreign Correspondent Member of the Royal Spanish Academy of Sciences, Foreign Member of the Mexican National Academy of Sciences, Foreign Correspondent Member of the Academy of Sciences of Lisbon, and Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS).
Since its inception, the award has recognized leading global pioneers in the field:
2025 (2nd Edition):Prof. Reisa Sperling — Professor of Neurology at Harvard Medical School and Member of the U.S. National Academy of Medicine.
2024 (Inaugural Edition):Prof. Paula I. Moreira — Professor at the University of Coimbra, a leading authority on neurodegenerative disease research, and a laureate of the L'Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science Award (Portugal region).
