The 18th National Conference, organized by the Centre for Mountain Economy CE-MONT Vatra Dornei / INCE / Romanian Academy in collaboration with the National Mountain Area Agency/MADR, the Romanian Mountain Forum, the National Agency for Mountain Rural Development “ROMONTANA”, Silvania Research & Innovation Association, Lunca Ilvei, Vatra Dornei Mayor’s Office, and the International Engineering and Technology Institute (IETI) / International Research Institute for Economics and Management (IRIEM), and strongly supported by the IETI Romanian Society, was successfully held on Friday, 19 July and Saturday, 20 July, 2024, in Vatra Dornei. The event was conducted in a mixed format, both online and at the conference room of the CE-MONT Centre for Mountain Economy, situated at Petreni str., nr. 49, jud. Suceava. The scientific committee and organizing committee were composed of experts from various fields.During the opening stage of the conference, Mr. Ilie BONCHES from the Vatra Dornei Mayor's Office delivered the opening speech, followed by the opening address by Prof. Radu REY, a Distinguished Fellow of IETI, Member of IRIEM, Honorary President of the IETI Romanian Society, Member of the Romanian Academy, Member of the Academy of Agricultural and Forestry Sciences of Romania, and Director of the Centre of Mountain Economy CE-MONT of the Romanian Academy. Academician Ioan Aurel POP, President of the Romanian Academy, Academician Ioan Dumitrache, General Secretary of the Romanian Academy, Minister Florin-Ionut BARBU from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Prof. Lumini?a CHIVU, Director of the National Institute for Economic Research of the Romanian Academy, Prof. Valeriu TABARA, President of the Academy of Agricultural and Forestry Sciences, Academician Cristian HERA, Academician Ion Paun OTIMAN, former Minister Petre DAEA from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Plenipotentiary Minister Achim IRIMESCU, and Prof. Constantin BOSTINA, President of the Association for Economic and Social Studies and Forecasts, all participated in the opening ceremony.Scholars from Romania, Sri Lanka, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, India, Cyprus, Hungary, Canada, the United States, Yemen, Cameroon, Moldova, Italy, Albania, Mexico, China, and other places shared and exchanged ideas in various ways during the conference. Some of them are also members of IETI.On 19 July, the conference commenced at 9:30 (EEST time) with the arrival and registration of researchers and guests, followed by presentations of papers covering topics from public-private partnership in the agro - zootechnical sector to the impact of training on job performance in the Sri Lanka air force. Discussions also encompassed protecting biodiversity, financial instruments in the context of the collaborative economy, and the characteristics of Emmental cheeses from ?ara Dornelor.Section II on 19 July focused on the ecosanogenesis of mountain areas, the diversity of financial instruments and family farms, and the role of assisted reproductive technologies in biodiversity conservation.On 20 July, the discussions covered agricultural management in the development of mountain farms, the role of social marketing in combating unsustainable behavior, and the use of biomass as a sustainable energy source in mountain areas. Other topics included the restoration of mountain ecosystems and the analysis of the influence of technological evolution on researchers' practices.Scholars from various countries, including Romania, Sri Lanka, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, India, Cyprus, Hungary, Canada, the United States, Yemen, Cameroon, Moldova, Italy, Albania, Mexico, China, and others, participated and exchanged ideas in diverse manners during the conference. Many of them are also members of IETI.The conference concluded with discussions, final conclusions, and the closing of the event at 14:15 on 20 July, followed by lunch.
