IETI President Michael McAleer Passed Away
IETI Co-Founder and Founding President, Michael McAleer, Professor in the field of economics and management, passed away at age 69 on 8th July, 2021. He will be greatly missed - he was a unique and dedicated scholar and an enormous inspiration to all who knew him. He had had a long and brave battle against colon, then liver and finally lung cancer. He had maintained his research activities and phenomenal research output for the past ten years, despite his prolonged illness.
Michael holds an impressive publication record, along with serving as author or co-author of 800+ articles. He was elected as Fellow of Academy of the Social Sciences in Australia, International Engineering and Technology Institute, International Environmental Modelling and Software Society, The Modelling and Simulation Society of Australia and New Zealand, Journal of Econometrics, Econometric Reviews, Econometric Reviews. He was Professor in Asia University, University of Sydney, Erasmus University Rotterdam, Complutense University of Madrid, University of Canterbury, Yokohama National University and other leading universities.
Under his leadership and support, IETI has developed into a worldwide non-profit academic organization covering more than 90 countries, including 6 Nobel Laureates.
