Dr David Fan is a Professor of Management, Department of Management & Marketing, Swinburne University of Technology, Melbourne, Australia.  His research interests are: multinationals from emerging economies, international strategic management, international human resource management, and topics related to emerging economies.

Prior to his migration to Australia, David worked as a financial accountant in an international real estate group. David completed his PhD in International Management at Monash University (Clayton Campus) in 2010, including one-year full-time doctoral level methodology training at the Australian National University in 2006. Before he joined the Faculty in 2020, he held an ongoing academic appointment at the University of Western Australia.

David is an Associate Editor of International Journal of Management Reviews (ABDC: A; IF: 8.631), International Journal of Human Resource Management (ABDC: A; IF: 3.040), Asia Pacific Journal of Human Resources (ABDC: B; IF: 1.894), and Deputy Editor of Chinese Management Studies (ABDC: C; IF: 1.036);  and serves on the Editorial Review Boards of Management and Organization Review (ABDC: A), Asia Pacific Journal of Management (ABDC: A), and the Advisory Board of COMPASSS (2015-).
