Dr. Rudy J. Castellani is a professor of pathology, and director of the Center for Neuropathology at Western Michigan University Homer Stryker MD School of Medicine. He was formerly a tenured professor of pathology and director of neuropathology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine between 2005 and 2016. Dr. Castellani has published extensively on the pathogenesis and pathophysiology neurodegenerative diseases, with over 250 peer reviewed publications, reviews, book chapters, and editorials. Dr. Castellani is the recipient of numerous awards for scientific merit, clinical service, and teaching, including the 2010 Alzheimer Medal, and the 2011 Harlan I. Firminger award for excellence in pathology teaching. Dr. Castellani is ranked number 53 in the world in expertise in Alzheimer’s disease across all medical and scientific disciplines.
